First Choice Staffing is partnering with the Mid-York Library System to bring practical career and job-search resources directly to local communities beginning this October.
The new “Let’s Get You Job-Ready” initiative will feature workshops at area libraries designed to help job seekers, individuals considering a career change, and anyone looking to strengthen their professional skills. Sessions will cover topics including résumé development, interviewing, job-search strategies and the skills employers are looking for in today’s workforce.
The partnership will kick off with two résumé workshops in October:
October 9 | 12:00–1:30 PM at Oneida Public Library
“Oneida to Opportunity: Build a Résumé That Gets Noticed”
Participants will learn what belongs on a résumé, common mistakes to avoid and how to effectively highlight their experience and skills. Attendees are encouraged to bring an existing résumé, but a completed résumé is not required to participate.
October 13 | 5:30–6:30 PM at Jervis Public Library, Rome
“When in Rome, Refresh Your Résumé”
This practical workshop will focus on ways to strengthen an existing résumé, avoid common résumé mistakes and present experience in a way that catches an employer’s attention. Participants are encouraged to bring their résumé and questions.
“Our goal is to make job-search support more accessible and give people practical information they can immediately put to use,” said Jonathan Loomis, Operations Manager at First Choice Staffing. “Partnering with Mid-York Library System allows us to meet people right in their communities and help them feel more prepared and confident when it’s time to apply for their next opportunity.”
The October workshops are the beginning of an ongoing partnership between First Choice Staffing and the Mid-York Library System, with additional career and workforce development programming planned for local communities throughout the year and into 2027.
